The history of HORSCH – Right from the start driven by the passion for farming and the pursuit of innovative solutions for the customer!
In comparatively few years the HORSCH Maschinen GmbH grew into a worldwide leading manufacturer of agricultural engineering. Michael, Philipp and Cornelia Horsch are the faces of the company and are behind the innovative developments in agricultural engineering and in the farming sector.
HORSCH is a family-owned company. This is not the only reason why it is marked by many other people who make the company what it is today. Michael, Philipp and Cornelia Horsch are part of the founding generation of HORSCH, but already the previous generation set the course for the later path of the company.
In 1969, Dankwart Horsch, Michael and Philipp Horsch’s father, leased Sitzenhof estate on the outskirts of Schwandorf. He had already owned a small farm before. In Sitzenhof he saw the opportunity to develop further. Many brothers and cousins of Dankwart Horsch also were active in the farming sector. Therefore, at family reunions, they, of course, almost exclusively discussed agricultural topics. In the family circle, they also supported each other intensely when it came to finding a solution for agronomic or other problems on their farms. Some family members ran their farms in difficult conditions. They, for example, had to grapple with stony soils or their farms were located in barren mid-range mountain regions.
